A Surprising Twist

I've been a published author for less than a year, and while I expected this journey to introduce new challenges and opportunities, what I didn't anticipate was how much it would revive the old. By 'old' I'm referring to relationships with friends and family that I've nurtured over the years.

I knew that events would be one of my favorite parts of being an author because I love chatting with fellow readers and mystery fans. To my delighted surprise, they have also enabled me to reconnect with people in my life whom I cherish but don't get to often see.

For example, at my book launch, a dear friend who I'd last seen in England fifteen years ago showed up in the crowd to support me. Soon after the release, colleagues whom I hadn't talked to in years texted me photos of them reading my book. Several friends and family members have hosted events for me or asked for a book event at their local bookstore. It's left me full-hearted and so very grateful for the wonderful people in my life.

I just finished Gigi Pandian's Michelangelo's Ghost, a fun mystery / adventure with phantom spirits, hidden treasures, international jewel thieves, historic details, and academic intrigue. I enjoyed the characters, the interesting premise, and how Jaya Jones and her friends worked together to solve the mystery. I started on book #4, and will now devour the entire series.
