Harry and Emma are back!

I'm thrilled to announce that widower and anthropologist Harry Lancaster and his Gen Z colleague Emma Stockton are back in A Field Guide to Death and Deceit, which hits the shelves today!

When an odd request leads Harry to agree to meet his former sweetheart Willow at a farm on the outskirts of town, Emma’s suspicions run high, and she insists on joining him. Instead of finding Willow when they arrive, they discover the farm's owner dead, with a corn rake embedded in his back.

After being interrogated by the police, Harry and Emma return to his home to find a bereft Willow, who admits she lost her life savings in a real estate scam involving the farm. Worried Willow will become the main murder suspect, Harry decides to help her, despite Emma’s concerns.

To bring the swindlers—and murderer—to justice, Harry recruits his financial whiz brother and a neighborhood teenage hacker. Then Willow’s realtor is declared missing, and Harry’s brother is caught up in the fray. As Harry and Emma unearth clues, they increasingly dodge the police, stalkers, and danger in their race to save Willow and Harry’s brother before anyone else turns up dead.

I had so much fun writing this book and adding a few new characters to the crime-solving team. I hope you enjoy this second Harry & Emma Mystery, which is available wherever books are sold.

Uzma Jalaluddin's second Detective Aunty Novel, Moonlight Murder, was a sheer delight! This twisty mystery combined an interesting cast of characters with a rich cultural setting, emotional depth, and community dynamics that transported you into Kausar Khan's world. I hope there's a third book in this series on the way!

I listened to Murder at the Spirit Lounge by Jess Kidd, the second Nora Breen Investigates book. It took me back in time and kept me so engaged that I finished the entire book in just one day. The characters are well rounded and the setting immersive. Nora is a lot of fun and I can't wait to see what she gets up to next.

Interested in a free short story about Harry Lancaster in his earlier years? I've got you covered. Check out "A Grain of Doubt."

Anthropologist Harry Lancaster came to Rwanda to help the country rebuild, not to play detective. But four years after the war’s end, trust is as scarce as the country’s food supply. When stock goes missing and his colleagues’ behavior becomes suspicious, Harry teams up with a feisty new aid worker, Samantha McGovern, to uncover the truth before thieves cost those most desperate the aid they need to survive.
